Jane’s Dancing Addiction Wins “Highest Design” Contest
CMS McClintock Middle School Receives $5,000 in School Supplies from Carolina Pad
The Design Center of the Carolinas (DCC) and Ram Realty Services, in partnership with Carolina Pad, announced the winner of the “Highest Design” contest, Ashley Plyler, with her artwork entitled Jane’s Dancing Addiction.

The winning artwork was unveiled to the Charlotte community on Friday, April 29, at a 1:30 pm at a celebratory event in the Courtyard of the DCC at 101 West Worthington Avenue. A $1,000 check was presented to Plyler by Ivy Greaner, chief operating officer of Ram Realty Services.
Greaner spoke of the ongoing tradition of this contest, “We appreciate the more than 17,000 online votes we received for the entries that were so full of creative energy. Ashley’s artwork will be up for all to see when you look up at the water tower.
Ashley Plyler is from Lowell, in Gaston County, and works in the Graphic Production Center at Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools. Plyler said, “I covered the classics with Jane Avril. She was the first element that everything centered around. The contemporary visuals included the crowd at a new club scene. President Obama was a last minute addition as I thought of the Hope poster and our hope for the Charlotte community.
Adria Courtot and Melissa Lamkin from Carolina Pad presented Principal Pam Espinosa of McClintock Middle School with $5,000 in school supplies that will be delivered to the school next week (are you sure about delivery). Approximately two weeks of online voting open to the public generated more than 17,000 votes for the artwork entries. The theme of this year’s contest, “Classic Meets Contemporary”, invited participants to share his or her vision of how our artistic heritage is inspiring artisans today.
