GET INSPIRED and WIN $1,000!

Create the next design for an icon of the Charlotte creative community, the Design Center of the Carolinas water tower. Not only will the winning design be seen at an inspiring altitude, the designer will also WIN $1,000 cash and a $5,000 donation in class room supplies for the school of your choice!

Positioned in the Historic South End, the Design Center of the Carolinas has become the inspirational hub for Charlotte’s creative community. Perched amidst the complex is a 125' water tower — a very high canvas for your art to become an icon of inspiration.

Be a part of the most inspiring art event in Charlotte history! We are hosting a contest for the Charlotte professional arts community to create a very special work of art, one that will be translated to a canvas to be hung on the Design Center water tower, becoming the Highest Design in Charlotte. The winning designer will receive $1,000 and be recognized as Charlotte’s most prominent artist for the year; and Carolina Pad will donate $5,000 in classroom supplies to a Charlotte-Mecklenburg high-needs school championed by the winning designer.

This year’s theme is “What Inspires your creativity?.” As artists, we’ve all been inspired by architecture, design and objects. Share what inspires your work – whether it be from the world around you or within. The only parameters for your artistic vision are that it must be your original work and not commercial in nature.

Winning selection will be determined by public online voting. Ask your friends, family, and colleagues to go vote for your piece starting March 19 through April 30.

The Highest Design contest is open to professionals, at least 18 years of age. Required working size is 18”w x 12”h. Entrants may work in a variety of mediums, but work must be horizontal in format.

Read the official rules.
