Our Neighborhood: Designed With Charm and Convenience

Just a mile from Uptown, the Design Center is located in the heart of the Historic South End, conveniently just minutes from I-77 and across the street from the Lynx Light Rail. A vibrant mix of shops, restaurants and galleries are peppered throughout this charming community. If the vintage brick buildings in this neighborhood could talk, they'd be full of stories of triumphs in industry and of driven entrepreneurs from the last hundred years.

Once you step into the Design Center, you'll instantly see why working here never feels like just another day at the office. Unique architectural details, expansive windows, vintage vibe and community feel are only part of the reason tenants are inspired to dream big here. Imagine how brainstorming under the trees in The Courtyard could enhance your productivity. Rejuvenate your power lunches at Pike's Old-Fashioned Soda Shop conveniently located in The Plaza. Or host a memorable, special event in the open space of The Atrium. The Design Center's three distinct buildings are able to accommodate space needs ranging from 1,000 to 20,000 square feet.

Our history: designed with a creative and industrious heritage

In the late 1920s, William Nebel built the first Nebel Knitting Mill at 101 W. Worthington Ave., now the Design Center Courtyard. The water tower was erected at the time and is now the Design Center's trademark, standing tall as a beacon of creativity.The Plaza initially housed the Queen City Mattress Company, which was built around 1933. By the 1940s, "Nebel and Nylons" were two words often linked in national magazines and advertisements. The Atrium was the annex to the original Mill, and served an important role in its success.
